The Seasonal Pond Letter

A short email four times a year: mid-February, May 1, mid-August and November 1. Each one tells you what to do at the pond and what to file before the coming season, with links to the rules and the date we checked them.

• Mid-February: permits to apply for before spring, stocking notices, barley straw timing.
• May 1: treating weeds safely and legally, early algae, bloom warning signs.
• Mid-August: fish-kill season, fall drawdowns and dredging paperwork.
• November 1: aerators and ice safety, winterkill, records.
