How to choose a pro for fish stocking & hatcheries
- Ask whether they'll file the Notice of Stocking for you; PFBC allows it. File PFBC's free Notice of Stocking before stocking any pond; keep a copy on site; no pet-store fish.
- Ask whether the species suit your watershed. Stock only species on PFBC's approved list for your watershed.
- Buying grass carp? Only from a PFBC-approved dealer, after your permit arrives. Buy only USFWS-certified triploid grass carp from a PFBC-approved dealer; keep the bill of sale. Check the approved dealers.
- Fish from out of state? Fish from out of state need PFBC's written permission before release.
Credentials on listings are self-reported. Insurance and licenses: ask for proof.
